Meet the Sackton Fellows

Ethan Clay headshot - fair-skinned man, smiling, blond hair, brown beard, green jacket, red shirt

Ethan Clay is originally from Tempe, Arizona. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2016 with a B.A. in U.S. History. After graduating, he worked in local policy and politics where he focused on state budget and tax systems, child welfare, and economic justice. Seeing the impact wildfires were having on his favorite wilderness spots in Arizona, he shifted careers. Ethan currently works as a wildland firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service in Montana. He started at ASU in 2021 to pursue his Master's in Public Policy. He hopes the M.P.P. program will one day help him lead finance teams on big fires and improve land management decision-making; in the meantime, he's happy playing with fire and sleeping in dirt all summer.
