Biography

Jerry A. Oliver Sr. is assigned to the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University. As a professor of practice, Oliver brings a diverse background in policing, alcohol regulation, police, and public administration. He served as police chief in Richmond, Virginia; Detroit, Michigan; and Pasadena, California; before returning to his home state of Arizona. He has held several positions in Arizona's state government including director of the Department of Liquor Licensing and Control. Oliver holds a master’s degree in public administration, a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from ASU and is a 1988 inductee into the ASU College of Public Programs Hall of Fame.
