School of Public Affairs assistant professor Akheil Singla was recently interviewed by WalletHub.com about which states rely most on federal assistance for various programs.
New Mexico was the most dependent state, according to WalletHub, and Delaware was the least dependent. Arizona ranked seventh for federal dependency.
“It is important not to think of federal resources as a single pot of money from which certain states draw more and other states draw less,” Singla told WalletHub.
His areas of discipline include public financial management, state and local government finance, municipal debt, and municipal bankruptcy.
That WalletHub story is about the balance between federal resources going into and coming out of individual states, Singla said. He was asked to provide some insight into how someone should think about those issues.
Singla was one of six experts interviewed on the topic. Read the full story from WalletHub.
