Internships are the bridge that link PSPP and UMS students to the career world. By applying knowledge gained in the classroom to real world situations, students are able to gain a better understanding of the program content and be prepared to enter the career world with valuable professional experience. All students in the PSPP and UMS programs are required to do an internship for a minimum of 3 credits.

Internships can be in a broad range of fields of study, but advisor approval of the organization you wish to intern with is required to ensure that that it is conducive with the goals and expectations of the UMS program.

Past students in the PSPP and UMS program have interned with a wide variety of organizations including:

  • ASU Foundation
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Phoenix Sister Cities
  • State of Arizona
  • City of Scottsdale
  • City of Phoenix
  • Maricopa Association of Governments
  • Downtown Art Galleries
  • Local Initiatives Support Corporation

Requirements
PSPP and UMS students can receive 3 or 6 credits for their internship experience based on the number of hours they complete (or in process of completion).

  • 3 credits requires 125 hours
  • 6 credits requires 250 hours

In addition, students participating in the PSPP and UMS internship program will be required to write a blog documenting and reflecting upon their experiences.
