Now Accepting Applications for the 2012-13 Academic Year

$5,000 Scholarship

If you are an ASU student who wants to make the world a better place through your dedication to a career in public service, apply now for a place in the 2012-13 cohort of Scholars.

The Spirit of Service Scholars (SOSS) initiative honors outstanding students interested in pursuing careers in the public and nonprofit sectors. Scholars receive a $5,000 scholarship, mentorship from high-profile practitioners and leaders, and education on core topics for public service through six Saturday seminars. This initiative seeks to help create the next generation of public service leaders who will transform the nonprofit and government sectors at all levels..

Eligibility

ASU students in any undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree program are eligible to apply. Graduate students may be part-time, although full-time is preferred. International students and high school students who have been accepted to ASU for the fall 2012 are also eligible to apply. Students who will graduate in December 2012 or who will be studying abroad in one or the two semesters of the academic year are not eligible for this scholarship.

Application Process

The SOSS will be accepting applications from February 15 to March 26, 2012.

Semi-finalists will be invited to an in-person interview in mid-April. All applicants will be notified about the award no later than May 15, 2012.

Applicants need to complete an online application form, available at http://spiritofservicescholars.asu.edu/students/apply-now, and provide two unofficial transcripts for the current and previous levels of studies (see FAQ section on the website above) and two sealed letters of recommendation. Send packet with letters and transcripts to:
