Debra Friedman’s article, “An Extraordinary Partnership between Arizona State University and the City of Phoenix,” has been published in the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement, Vol. 13, No. 3, pp 89-100

Chris Herbst’s article, "The Labor Supply Effects of Child Care Costs and Wages in the Presence of Subsidies and the Earned Income Tax Credit" has been accepted for publication in Review of Economics of the Household.

Laura Peck has been invited to be the new Associate Editor for American Journal of Evaluation in the area of public policy evaluation.

Joe Cayer and Will Volk have a chapter on “Pay Benefits: Creating an Environment for Excellence” in the new ICMA published book, Human Resource Management in Local Government, edited by Siegren Fox Freyss. 

Laura Peck's article in Administration and Society has been published (with Chao Guo) titled “Giving and Getting: Charitable Activity and Public Assistance.”

Barbara McCabe has an article accepted.  The citation is: Park, Jongsun, Barbara Coyle McCabe and Richard C. Feiock. Forthcoming. “Direct Democracy Provisions and Local Government Fiscal Choices.” American Review of Public Administration

Heather Campbell and Laura Peck have had an article accepted.  The citation is: Campbell, Heather E., Laura R. Peck & Michael K. Tschudi.  “Justice for All?  A Cross-Time Analysis of Toxic Release Inventory Facility Location.”  Forthcoming, Review of Policy Research. 

John Hall has just published two chapters in a new book.  The citations are: John Stuart Hall, "Who Will Govern American Metropolitan Regions, and How?" and Rob Melnick and John Stuart Hall "Regional Roles and Relationships: A Fifty-Year Evolution of Governance in Metropolitan Phoenix, 1960-2008". in Don Phares (ed.),(2009). Governing Metropolitan Regions in the 21st Century (New York: M.E. Sharpe). The book is the latest in the M.E. Sharpe Cities and Contemporary Society series, edited by Richard Bingham and Larry Ledebur.  

Elizabeth Corley has had a journal article accepted. The citation is: Cacciatore, M., Scheufele, D., & Corley, E. A. (2009, in press). From Enabling Technology to Applications: The Evolution of Risk Perceptions about Nanotechnology. Public Understanding of Science.

SPA faculty Janet Denhardt, Larry Terry, Edgar Ramirez and Ph.D. student Ljubinka Andonoska have just had an article accepted by the International Journal of Public Administration entitled "Barriers to Citizen Engagement in Developing Countries."

Chris Herbst has received a grant from the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research's Mini Grant Program to support his project on "Child Care Subsidies and Child Development." Second, his paper (along with co-author David Stevens) entitled "The Impact of Local Labor Market Conditions on Work and Welfare Decisions: Revisiting an Old Question Using New Data" was accepted for publication in Population Research and Policy Review.

Elizabeth Corley and PhD alumni, Meghna Sabharhal, have an article in Public Administration, "Scholarly Collaboration and Productivity Patterns in Public Administration: Analyzing Recent Trends".

Laura Peck and MPA alumni John David Godchaux's article, How Do Low-Skill Workers Fare in High Growth Areas? Job Accessibility in Phoenix, 1995-2000 has been accepted in Journal of Poverty, 13(4). 

Elizabeth Corley and doctoral student Tina Hu have had an article accepted, "Of Risks and Regulations: How Leading U.S. Nano-Scientists Form Policy Stances about Nanotechnology" in Journal of Nanoparticle Research

Janet Denhardt and Mark Glaser’s article "Community Policing and Community Building: A Case Study of Officer Perceptions" has been accepted for publication in the American Review of Public Administration.

Edgar Ramirez’s article "Local Institutions and the Politics of Urban Growth" has been accepted for publication in the American Journal of Political Science. His coauthors in the paper are Mark Lubell and Rick Feiock.

Edgar Ramirez has a chapter entitled “Integrated Watershed Management and Policy Entrepreneurs: The Case of the Ayuquila-America River Basin.” 

Public Universities and Regional Development edited by Kathryn Mohrman, Jian Shi, Sharon E. Feinblatt, and King W. Chow is now available. The publisher is Sichuan University Press, 2009.

Joanna Lucio (née Duke) has had an article accepted by the Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare, "Exploring Homeowner Opposition to Public Housing Developments".
