Alliance for Innovation

The top priorities of the Alliance will be identifying major trends in local government and leading practices that can help local governments address major issues, providing effective research, and creating a repository of information on innovative practices and the process of innovation. Anticipated services and products include:

An effective inquiry and research service

Linkages to other knowledge centers and document storage

Information, communication, and training approaches

Satellite Television or Web-cast broadcasts

Annual conferences including Transforming Local Government, eCommunity, and broadband economy

Member newsletter

Awards program including the J. Robert Havlick Award for Products Innovation and the Thomas H. Muehlenbeck Award for Excellence in Local Government

Member engagement, services, and networking provided through regional offices

Research and development on new products or approaches to major issues for local government

A comprehensive survey capacity

A forum for thought leaders to identify the major forces that will drive change in local government

Best practices research, including establishing a rigorous process of identifying leading best practices

Identification and adaptation of the best practices of the private and non-profit sectors to local government

Publications in both print and electronic formats to focus on applied innovations in local government. Develop a new publication, such as a Journal of Applied Innovation
