About Our School

School of Public Affairs:

The School of Public Affairs is an academic unit within the College of Public Programs at Arizona State University. The activities of the School focus primarily upon graduate education, research, and public service. In addition to the NASPAA accredited and nationally ranked Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, the School offers a Bachelor of Urban and Metropolitan Studies, undergraduate concentrations in Public Management/Administration, Urban and Metropolitan Studies, and Leadership and Ethics; undergraduate certificates in Public Management/Administration and Leadership and Ethics, a Master of Public Policy, and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Public Administration.

The School also serves as a link between the University and governmental agencies. It sponsors research on problems of state and local government, public and comparative administration, and related topics. It is active in developing governmental internships and in placement of graduates. The School assists in the programming of short courses, seminars, and professional conferences in cooperation with such agencies as the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, the Arizona City/County Management Association, and the Arizona Finance Officer’s Association.

Morrison Institute for Public Policy:

As part of the School of Public Affairs, the Institute bridges the gap between academic scholarship and public policy development through its services to public and private sector clients and its independent research agenda. Morrison Institute provides services in the areas of public policy research, program evaluation, and public outreach to many types of public and private organizations in Arizona and throughout the United States.

Morrison Institute for Public Policy analyzes current and proposed public policies that are important to the future of greater Phoenix, the state of Arizona, and the nation. Its mission is to conduct research which informs, advises, and assists Arizona's state and community leaders. Morrison Institute's services include policy research and analysis, program evaluation, and support of community participation in public affairs. Through a variety of publications and forums, the Institute shares research results and provides services to public officials, private sector leaders, and community members who shape public policy.

Executive Education Program:

The Executive Education Program delivers quality professional development programs for public managers, executives and elected officials. Serving clients from international, federal, state, county, municipal and tribal government, Executive Education offers management training and workshops on current public administration issues and challenges.

Executive Education's presenters include university faculty and staff as well as external instructors, trainers and facilitators. Presenters and consultants are chosen for their practical experience, demonstrated expertise, insight and creativity. All have proven ability to work successfully with adult learners.
